Care in the Comfort of Your Own Home
Home
is likely where you want to be when you are recovering from an illness, injury or surgery. And
Regional Home Health and Hospice makes it possible by providing the following in-home services to
residents in Erie and Crawford Counties.
Skilled Nursing
A registered nurse comes to your home to provide care such as assessments of heart and
breath sounds, care of wounds, ostomies and catheters and other services. RNs provide special
support to newborns and their mothers and teach patients and family members to manage medication,
nutrition and other patient needs. They can also help coordinate additional services if needed, as
well as keep your physician informed about any changes in your condition.
Physical Therapy
A physical therapist can help you improve your strength,
coordination, mobility and pain control through therapeutic exercises and other methods. Physical
therapists also help patients adapt to canes, walkers and wheelchairs.
Occupational Therapy
Occupational therapists help you and your family members use
techniques and equipment to help you improve your level of independent functioning in such
activities as eating, bathing, dressing, cooking and mobility.
Speech Therapy
Speech pathologists can help you relearn or improve communication and memory skills
such as speaking, writing and problem-solving. They also encourage family members to get involved
with your therapy.
Personal Care
Home health aides help you with some
of your daily activities that you cannot do yourself such as bathing and grooming, light
housekeeping and meal preparation.
Medical Social Work
A medical social
worker can arrange for help from community support services and assist in finding the best
extended care facility for you if you should need one.
Frequently Asked
Questions
Why choose home care?
Patients can recuperate in the comfort of
their own homes near family and friends, without sacrificing sound medical treatment. Home care
services also can reduce the length and cost of hospital stays.

care services, including nursing, physical therapy and speech therapy. Usually the patients are
confined to their homes by illness or injury or can leave only for short periods of time with the
assistance of another person. All care must be ordered by a physician, who is updated regularly on
the patient s condition.
Who pays for home care?
Medicare, Medical
Assistance, many Blue Cross policies, HMOs and several other health insurance policies may pay all
or part of the cost of home care services.
