Millcreek Community Hospital is seeking a Director of Behavioral Health Services to manage the day to day operations. This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic, customer orientated team player and would include management of the following units: Adult, Child/Adolescent, Geriatric and a Partial Program. SUMMARY: Directs the operations of the Hospital s Behavioral Health Programs/Services in terms of program development, policy and procedure implementation, budget, long range planning and marketing services. Programs include inpatient adult, child/adolescent and geriatric psychiatric services, inpatient detoxification and outpatient partial hospitalization programs.


  1. Oversees the selection, training and orientating of employees and is responsible for overall staffing for all departments. Develops standards of performance/evaluation, and makes recommendations for personnel actions.
  1. Develops department goals and objectives, and establishes and implements policies and procedures for department operation.
  1. Develops and recommends department operating budget and ensures that department operates within budget.
  1. Is responsible for all department reports and all reports required by Administration and external regulatory agencies.
  1. Manages all aspects of the programs and services.
  1. Acts as a resource person to patients/families and staff for resolution of problems related to patient care.
  1. Markets psychiatric services to referral sources, community agencies, court services, social service agencies, and others as required.
  1. Serves as the formal liaison among medical staff, staff, and administration.
  1. Maintains professional growth and development through seminars, workshops, and professional affiliations to keep abreast of latest trends in field of expertise.
  1. Participates in hospital/medical staff committee meetings as required, and represents Millcreek Community Hospital internally and externally as requested.
  1. Plans for yearly activity of assigned units by following the established goals and objectives with staff and appropriate members of the medical staff/administration.
  1. Conducts routine rounds in order to evaluate, assess, and facilitate patient care rendered.
  1. Review and assess risk management data; plan for and implement appropriate intervention.
  1. Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.


Minimum Education: MBA/MS or equivalent education

Minimum Experience: Healthcare experience or appropriate health care discipline with pervious management/clinical experience in Behavioral Health Services and applicable regulatory requirements.

English Language Skills: Must be able to read, write, and speak the

English Language in an understandable manner.

Physical Demands: Must be in good general health and demonstrate emotional stability. Must be able to lift up to and in excess of 25 pounds throughout the workday. Sit, stand, bend, lift, and move intermittently during working hours.

Working environment: Works in well lighted/ventilated areas. Subject to hostile and emotionally upset residents, family members, etc.
