Millcreek Community Hospital has an immediate opening for a Full time Director of Health
Information Management. RHIT or RHIA and previous management experience is preferred. Directs
and supervises all Medical Record Department functions, including record completion, transcription,
indexing, abstracting, coding, research, filing, storage, tumor registry, retrieval and maintenance.

SUMMARY: Directs and
supervises all Medical Record Department functions, including record completion,
transcription, indexing, abstracting, coding, research, filing, storage, tumor registry, retrieval and maintenance.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Selects, trains/orients and assigns
department staff (either directly or through subordinate
supervisor). Develops standards of performance,
evaluates performance, and initiates or makes recommendations for personnel actions.
2. Develops department goals and
objectives, and establishes and implements policies and
procedures for department operation.
3. Develops and recommends department
operating/man hours and salary budget and ensures that department operates within budget.
4. Directs the preparation and
maintenance of department reports. Prepares monthly
statistical and yearly comparative reports.
5. Plans and develops medical record
systems which meet the standards of various accrediting and regulatory agencies.
6. Ensures that institutional policies
and procedures for maintenance of medical records are followed.
7. Participates in and coordinates
committee functions related to medical records and Performance Improvement.
8. Develops and implements procedures to
respond to subpoenas and insurance company requirements for information to ensure that released
information meets legal requirements.
9. Creates and directs procedures to
assure proper completion and flow of records and reports.
10. Consults with and
advises committees on matters pertaining to medical records
and Performance Improvement.
Plans and offers various in-service educational materials and instructions for department and other health care professionals.
Maintains professional growth and development through seminars, workshops, and professional
affiliations to keep abreast of latest trends in field of expertise.
Participates in hospital/medical staff committee meetings as required. Attends and serves on professional/civic service
organizations as hospital representative.
Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.
Bachelors Degree in health information management,
Certification RHIA or RHIT preferred
Must be in good general health and demonstrate emotional stability. Must be able to lift up to and in excess of 25 pounds
throughout the workday. Sit, stand, bend, lift and move
intermittently during working hours.
